Post subject:  The Grand Stairs Challenge Mode Guide

I am going to start work on guides for each instance in quest mode and hard mode.

Please, please, please post reponses with all the information you can share on leading these instances step by step.

I can only do this with your help. I will edit in all the responses! These guides will only be as good as the information shared!

6-man instance level 58+

Thanks to Serendrel for contributing!

Hard Mode/Challenge Mode
As you descend the stairs you encounter the first boss [name here], who gives a speech and then drops the gate. You have 10 minutes from the time he is activated to activate [insert name here] hard mode. You may only kill the first boss [name], the activated boss [name] and the final boss Igash. You cannot kill the Devoted during the final boss fight.

Rewards
3 Medallions of Moria

Tips

First Boss - ?
Move close to the draw bridge, this will activate [name]. After a scene, the bridge lowers and you engage this boss. Basic tank-n-spank. When [?] calls out Feed Me Your Fear! you must remove the debuff or he will heal himself.

Moving to the Second Boss

After you finish with him, move down the stairs to the right and take on two warg riders. Move across the bridge, just before the next set of stairs, there are two stealthed goblins. Then move down the stairs and you can either go right or left.

Wargs to the right and orcs to the left. Either way you have to get there quickly!

We normally move to the wargs and down the stairs to the right. Deal with the wargs quickly. At the bottom of the stairs you must deal with the four warg riders and turn to the bridge on the right. There are two stealthed goblins near the beginnng of the bridge. Deal with them. Then you can either very quickly deal with the next set of warg riders across the bridge and fight your way up the stairs to active [?] or someone can volunteer to run to this boss and jump off his platform after activating [?]. ((I imagine Turbine would frown on this))

This ends the Challenge Mode Timer and you can easily fight your way up to [?] and then deal with his adds before taking him on.

Second Boss - ?
Morale = ?

Stand with your back to the gate since he likes to toss people over the edge. He also yells CATCH! and throws his shield.

Rewards:
IXP Runes
Medallion of Moria
Settings
Housing trophy

Moving To Igash

Return the way you came to the first boss site and then take the drawbridge that has now lowered. Clear mobs carefully before you get to Igash's area.

Final Boss - Igash

Morale - ?

This fight consists of Igash, his Devotes and two archers. Have someone off tank the archers or else they will target your healer. Ignore the Devoted - if you kill him you lose Challenge Mode.

Have the rest of the fellowship deal with Igash. He will lay down fire patches and do an AOE blast (if the person he is aggroed on can LOS him this move will not happen, but the throne has disappeared that used to be used for this).

Burn him down and then loot his chest and the other chests that are present.

Rewards
Medallion of Moria
IXP Runes
Settings
Diamond Stud (earring)
Painted Vane (pocket)
Insidious Cuff (bracelet)

Class Tips

Hunters
Hunters:

Target Assist most likely. Focus fire is very important.

RoT (Rain of Thorns) is key. BA (Bard's Arrow) helps as well if you lack CC (crowd control).

Pretty much your job is to DPS everything down as fast as you can while keeping aggro off you and the minstrel if the tank can't get there.

Watch poisons, however there are generally few of them.

Just watch poisons, root when asked, focus fire.

just watch poisons root when asked focus fire and there isnt really much more than that. Nothing special to know about it just follow the leaders instructions and play your class.

Note: They changed the run and die method. You must now clear out the wargs at the bottom of the stairs on the right before a GATE will drop allowing a fellowship member to run and die if you so choose to do that method. They have fixed running behind the throne because you can no longer sneak along the wall... and there is NO throne anymore!
